Hello everyone!

I hope you had a great festival if you were with us in Otley - I had a
marvellous time and the committee would like to thank you all for coming
along and helping to make it a memorable event. Photos are already
available on our website:
http://www.frenchdanceleeds.co.uk/fest2004/photos.html
If you have any of your own photos then please bring them to one of our
sessions or email them to me on evxgak at nottingham.ac.uk (please don't send
them to my hotmail address or you'll fill my email inbox)
--------------------------------------------------------------------------

And we're dancing straight into our regular session this Thursday in
Headingley. If we can dodge the drunken rugby fans still revelling in
Saturday's grand final victory for the brave Leeds Rhinos then we'll have
lots more music and dancing for you from 8-11.
--------------------------------------------------------------------------

Other events coming up include Pentrefest in Cardiff, several Blowzabella
gigs (not to be missed), and the MADE event in Kinnersley Castle in December
- details available via http://www.frenchdanceleeds.co.uk/frenchdiaryuk.html

Also, there's an informal weekend of scandinavian music and dance being
planned in a beautiful little village hall in the peak district - see below
and keep dancing

Love Graham

>Dear all
>
>John Stewart and I are putting together an informal, do -it- yourself
>weekend of Scandinavian music and dance in Tideswell, Derbyshire 14 - 16
>January 2005.
>
>Have a look at the outline details below, and (so we can get an initial
>idea of numbers) email me to say
>YES, you're fairly certain that you will be coming, or
>PROBABLY - you're not sure yet, but would like to be kept on the list for
>more details.
>
>If you don't reply, I won't bother you with any more emails.
>
>Please forward this email to anyone else who you think might be interested.
>
>It will be a really great weekend - looking forward to hearing from you.

>VENUE
>Tideswell Institute, Tideswell, Derbyshire. This is next to the 'Cathedral
>of the Peak', the church of St John the Baptist. There are 4 rooms for
>playing and sleeping - a couple are also suitable for small groups of
>dancers. Two kitchens and a dance floor (not enormous, but will be good
>for Scandinavian-style intimacy!)
>
>You can find out more about the village at
>http://www.tideswellonline.com/html/about.htm
>
>ACTIVITIES
>It's up to you! Anyone who has been to previous DIY events will know how
>much fun that can be. Suggestions so far include...
>
>Friday Night and Saturday night - dance, with music supplied by a mixture
>of a) everybody and b) different combinations of musicians
>
>Daytimes
>Informal dance instruction/practice/hints and tips (from Hester & Rolf and
>others)
>Music sessions including tune swaps.
>Regional themes for dance & music e.g. Jamtland, Roros pols...
>
>Going for a walk (perhaps Saturday morning, as we've been asked not to use
>the dance floor that morning because the library below is open)
>
>Please add your suggestions.
>
>COST
>About £30 for the whole weekend, including food. Any surplus will be
>donated to the Yorkshire Dales Workshops Scandinavian Festival.
>
>ACCOMMODATION
>The Institute will be heated all weekend, so it is good for indoor camping
>- bring mats and sleeping bags and pillows (there are no beds!). No
>showers, but there are toilets and washbasins.
>
>There is also a youth hostel not too far away, and the Tideswell website
>gives details of other accommodation in the area. Sorry, no reduction in
>price if you are arranging alternative accommodation because we're being
>charged per person whether they are sleeping there or not.
>
>FOOD
> I'll make sure that there are plenty of staples ( tea, coffee, milk,
>bread, butter, olive oil, loo roll etc). Volunteers to take
>responsibility for a particular meal, everyone else to help with food
>preparation, washing up etc. Anyone fancy being porridge chef?
>
>Has anyone got any big (catering size) pans? The Institute has millions of
>teapots, plates etc but is short of cooking equipment.
>
>Bring your own wine, beer, treats etc.
>
>TRANSPORT
>There are buses from Manchester and Chesterfield (see
>http://ourworld.compuserve.com/homepages/derbyshire_public_transport/tt_x
>67.htm) and also from Buxton.
>
>I'm happy to help arrange lift shares, pick-ups from stations etc. Parking
>is likely to be in the village rather than outside the Institute, but I'm
>trying to find out about using an adjacent yard.
